Streitbörger & Speckmann, Anwäte in Bielefeld, Hamm, Düsseldorf und Potsdam

History

Bielefeld
Our offices in Bielefeld were established in 1970 by Dr. Manfred Streitbörger. Now counting 21 attorneys among its numbers, it is one of the largest law firms in the eastern Westphalia/Lippe region.

Walter Maaß has been with the firm since the very beginning. Dr. Hartmut Stange and Dr. Hermann Gördes also joined during the early years of the firm.

In 1985 and 1986, attorneys Friederike Streitbörger, Dr. Norbert Westhoff, Dr. Bertram Schacker and Dr. Peter Meyer joined the offices. Together with attorneys Dr. Jost Hinrich Streitbörger and Dr. Matthias Rose, they constitute the team of younger partners which has continued to grow over the past few years.

It has been and is important to us that virtually all of our attorneys have pursued and completed law studies abroad. Based on knowledge of the respective legal system, the firm is thus in a position to negotiate, plead, and conduct correspondence in English, French, Italian, Russian, and Spanish. Dr. Schacker is licensed to practice law in New York and Dr. Yorck Tilman Steitbörger in Madrid.
The firm joined the international association DIRO in 1993 - DIRO is a European Lawyers' Association (EWIV).

The services offered Streitbörger Speckmann through its network of offices throughout Germany and the rest of Europe extend beyond its offices in Bielefeld, Hamm, Duesseldorf and Potsdam.

The office in Bielefeld is certified according to the EN ISO 9001:2008 standard.

Hamm
The Rinsche law offices were founded at the seat of Germany's largest Higher Regional Court (Oberlandesgericht = OLG) in Hamm in 1965. It rapidly grew to a partnership. The original senior partners were attorneys Prof. Dr. Gerhard Speckmann, Dr. Ulrich Müller, Prof. Dr. Lutz Batereau and Dr. Martin Schlüter who joined the firm between 1967 and 1977. They were followed in the 1980s by Dr. Michael Deppen, Dr. Rudolf Brocker, Dr. André Wohlleben and Frau Dr. Edith Barbasch, among others. The group of younger partners is headed by Dr. Martin Lange and Dr. Stephan Schmitz-Herscheidt.

The partnership's primary focus was seen as representing clients before the Higher Regional Court (OLG Hamm). The erection in 1981 of a new building to house the practice a stone's throw away from the Higher Regional Court is symbolic of the firm's orientation. Market requirements, particularly the elimination of separate registration for appeals-court lawyers granting exclusive rights of audience (Singularzulassung) mid 2002, made reorganization necessary and demanded that the partnership extend its areas of activity. This culminated in a concept that merged the firm with the Bielefeld law offices of Streitbörger, Maaß, Stange and Gördes.

The high level of specialization of all partners makes it possible to offer a broad spectrum of consulting services to those seeking legal advice. Our specialties include all areas of civil law (Zivilrecht) as well as public law (Öffentliches Recht). Prof. Dr. Lutz Batereau, Dr. Martin Schlüter and Dr. Rudolf Brocker are also notary publics.

Our credo is in line with the claims of our partners at the other locations. Our primary goal is to serve our clients, to allow them to get to know us and see what we do. Our offices also have excellent contacts to numerous businesses, financial and public institutions. We are thus able to offer our clients customized services that are both unique and personal.

The office in Hamm is certified according to the EN ISO 9001:2008 standard.

Potsdam
On September 1, 1990, the law firm at the time still called Dr. Rinsche & Partner opened a branch office in Potsdam on the basis of the economic and monetary union in Germany following Reunification of East and West Germany.

Office space was originally shared with an East German colleague. Since 1992, the Potsdam office has been run by Dr. Purps. New and more spacious offices were rented at the turn of the year 1992/1993. Constant growth has led to a constant increase in personnel. Martin Vogel joined the partnership in 1994 and Dr. Flinder in September 1996.

Business, education, politics and media are complex fields of activity in respect to law. Our firm in Potsdam is the hub from which activities in the East German states are launched for our associates in Bielefeld, Berlin and Hamm.
